• Fleet Maintenance Engineer

    Based - Hamble UK, Contract - full time, Pay £28K per annum


    The Fleet Maintenance Engineer will work closely with the Maintenance & Project Commissioning Engineer and be directly accountable to the company owner.


    They will also have to work directly with customers and suppliers, where they will be expected to establish good and effective working relationships with them.


    •  Undertake maintenance checks which will include all common systems aboard modern yachts capable of bluewater cruising.
    • Manage the maintenance and cleaning schedules for each boat
    • Diagnose faults whether they be electrical/ structural/ mechanical
    • Directly repair and/or commission/supervise the repair of those faults
    • Directly install and/or commission/supervise the installation of new systems/equipment
    • Supervise contractors brought in
    • Liaise with suppliers on technical aspects/costings
    • Project Manage the above and provide reports of the work carried out


    • Of at least 2 years working in the yachting industry (Essential)
    • Of working with customers directly (Essential)
    • Of working with suppliers to source key parts. (Essential)
    • Boat handling experience within marinas (Desirable)
    • Sailing experience either professionally or for leisure (Desirable)

    Knowledge & Skills

    • Knowledge of yachts and of the key equipment they use (Essential)
    • Knowledge of prestige yachting brands (Desirable)
    • Knowledge of suppliers to the yachting industry (Desirable)
    • Yachting/Motorboat qualifications (Desirable, but training will be given)
    • The ability to carry out maintenance checks and fault find on standard yacht systems (Essential)
    • The ability to systematically carry out maintenance tasks (Essential)
    • The ability to diagnose faults (Essential)
    • Excellent communication skills (Essential)
    • Full UK driving licence (Essential)
    • The ability to assist and/or oversee marina basin yacht movements (Desirable but training will be given)

    Job structure

    There is an opportunity to work full time hours (Mon-Fri). With very occasional work outside of these times, when this happens you would be compensated.

We help owners of all experience levels by providing a service, that frees them up from the worries of managing, maintaining, and servicing their boat, so that they can concentrate on getting the most out of sailing.
    This offer has recently been expanded to one where we provide all the services that a yacht owner may require to take part in any adventure, whether it be a one off ocean crossing or circumnavigation. This offer includes all the above along with working with them on planning the trip and supporting them whilst they are on it.


    The company is based at Hamble Point Marina, Hamble however it works with boat owners across Europe and beyond. White Dot Sailing works with organisations such as the World Cruising Club, specialising in preparing and supporting owners on their blue water adventures, including the ARC rallies.


    The company has an ambitious business plan in place which will see it expanding beyond its Hamble base, whilst continuing to provide an excellent service to its customers based there.
